Most projects you create with the 8051 CPU require some form of  display.  The most common way to accomplish this is with the LCD  (Liquid Crystal Display).  LCDs have become a cheap and easy way to get text display for an embedded system Common displays are set up as 16 to 20 characters by 1 to 4 lines. We will here discuss about the LCD 16×2.

this tutorial gives you best explanation of displaying any character on 16*2 lcd on 5*8 pixel irrespective of ASCII value. almost all lcds have HD44780U controller built in them. it is recommended to read this article prior to proceed further. lcd has CGRAM where we can write for custom character and then can easily be extracted to display on lcd

LCD Interfacing(4bit mode)

LCD in 4-Bit means we are using 4 Lines of data bus instead of using 8 Line data bus. In this Method, we are Splitting Bytes of data in Nibbles. Thus saving 4 Lines of Microcontroller. Here we have used 16 x 2 LCD.
